DESCRIPTION:DUE TO CIRCUMSTANCES BEYOND OUR CONTROL THIS EVENT HAS UNFORTUNATELY BEEN CANCELLED.\nCOOKIE BAKER BAND\n  \nWe hadn’t even had our first show in The Barn at Wombat Flat when Di and I saw Cookie’s solo show and knew we had to have her on our stage! When we knew she would be coming with her full band we were excited……as you will be when you hear her! \n \nCookie Baker is a pint-sized melodic force to be reckoned with. A walking\, talking exercise in compact contradiction and adaptation. As gutsy in person as she is empathetic on stage\, as careful with her picked guitar as she is unapologetic with her incisive words\, as warm in her interactions as she is unafraid of bringing airtime to the hard stuff. More often than not penning songs of keenly observed lost love and found habits\, Cookie speaks honestly of longing\, loss\, displacement and isolation\, and the emotional debris resulting from these experiences. \n\nRaised on a farm by the seaside in rural South Australia\, the deceivingly gentle melodies\, cool wordsmithery\, and sparkling grit of her vocals that audiences have come to adore have taken Cookie performing around Australia and brought her to share stages with many esteemed Australian artists\, including Augie March\, Kate Miller-Heidke\, Ben Lee\, Angie Hart (Frente!)\, Mick Thomas (Weddings\, Parties\, Anything)\, Little Birdy\, and The Audreys. \nCookie comes to The Barn at Wombat Flat in full-band flight\, yet still at her most personal\, personable and intimate best\, previewing material from her upcoming album. Her ongoing collaboration with Sydney-based engineer and producer\, Michael Carpenter\, produced the cracking first single\, Little Engine\, paved the way for second single\, The Summer (featuring Tim Rogers of Australia’s beloved You Am I)\, and the sweeping third single\, Don’t Start A Fight. Don’t Start A Fight is a charity single dedicated to Cookie’s best friend and musical right-hand man\, Jaan Kiploks\, a Cystic Fibrosis sufferer. All proceeds from the digital-only single will be donated to Cystic Fibrosis SA and other CF-related charities. \n\nCookie Baker is also a vocalist with festival favourite Sun Records tribute\, ‘Sun Rising – The Songs That Made Memphis’\, and is the founder and director of Melbourne-based contemporary choir collective\, ‘If You See Her\, Say Hello’. \n  \nMAUVE\nAdelaide’s MAUVE is made of many years of standing on humbly lit stages to weave her voice among others’. She’s made of a voice you swear you could drink and one you recognise without mistake when you hear. \nMAUVE meets electronic textures with pure tones and space. She controls her space. Her space lets you hear melodies\, soft and distinct as petrichor\, lets you learn her thoughts in lyrics introspective beyond her years\, and makes you lean toward her in the quiet and inhale every note she delivers when she shows you her power. \nArtists in residence for this show:\nVicki Rochau\n\nVicki has  participated in group exhibitions at the Barossa Regional Gallery. ‘Barossa Illuminated’ was an opportunity to create a digital projection of an art piece  for display on the face of the building.  Last year\, a watercolour of Vicki’s was chosen to represent the Barossa Valley Council in a state banner competition. Vicki’s entry went on to win second place in the state.  Vicki has also entered a pastel in ‘Unearthed’ and an audio installation for the Barossa Cooker Book Exhibition at the Barossa Regional Gallery.  She has curated the first two exhibitions at the Lambert Estate Gallery and exhibited her work in the ‘Portrayal’ Exhibit in 2017.  Most of Vicki’s sales are from exhibiting her work in local wineries\, cafes and Art at Auburn Gallery and from her Instagram page. Her work is currently on display in Dell’uva Wines Greenock. Vicki is participating ‘Drawing on Country’ at Vasse Virgin at Seppeltsfield\, ‘With a Twist’ in Auburn and ‘Synchronicity’ Dell’uva SALA exhibitions in 2018. \nSue Baker\n \n\n\n\n\nSue\, a singer-songwriter who performed with her band The Sourdoughs at The Barn in July\, is relatively new to creative expression through art. \nLeading up to her retirement\, she was hooked on Encaustic Painting\, after completing some local workshops. She is mesmerised by the creative process and the diverse characteristics of molten wax\, pigments\, and shellac. \nLike with her songwriting\, Sue is inspired by nature\, its simple beauty and inherent textures. Horizons often feature in Sue’s pieces. \n\n\n\n\n \nOur partner for this event is Ricca Terra Farms. Ricca Terra Vintners is 16 years in the making. Ashley & Holly Ratcliff have grown and sold their grapes to some of the greatest winemakers in Australia. Today\, Ricca Terra Vintners has established the mantra to blend grape varieties in the vineyard rather than in the winery….and make wines of interest with stories to tell! \nGates open 5:30pm\, music at 7:00pm. Great wines from Ricca Terra and some winter warming food will be available for purchase. No BYO food or drink please…..you’ll thank us!
