The Cherry Pickers
Over the last ten years The Cherry Pickers have been wandering their own bluegrass path, turning over old songs to see what’s underneath and uncovering a few newer ones along the way. The Cherry Pickers were born on Adelaide’s flatlands but they can be found performing original music and bluegrass classics all over South Australia and beyond.
The Cherry Pickers band features banjo, dobro, mandolin, upright bass and guitar, and their love for bluegrass and acoustic music shines through in every performance. They have appeared on various festival line-ups, including the Dorrigo Folk and Bluegrass Festival, Mountaingrass Festival, and the Fleurieu Folk Festival. The Cherry Pickers second album is, ‘Hand Picked’, a collection of Australian songs uncovered in bluegrass.
The Barn at Wombat Flat is thrilled to be able to host the Cherry Pickers just a week before they head off on their US tour!
Sue Baker and the Sourdoughs
While Sue can’t ever remember not singing, she’s somewhat of a latecomer to performing; only getting to it after the kids flew the coup. Her debut album “Bit of Earth” (recorded and mixed in the Barossa) is an archive rich in tales of life and matters of the heart. Sue’s long love of alternative folk, blues and jazz have nestled quietly amongst the lines and melodies of her own songs.
For lead guitarist Barrie Hocking, nothing quite evokes an emotional attachment like the guitar does for him. He plays with a handful of local bands, adding sweet leads full of texture and build. Barrie has played in a wide variety of bands over the years including an Adelaide Fringe Show, the “George Harrison Tribute”.
Melissa Glamocak’s bass guitar work is sassy and downright funky! Not only an exceptionally groovy bass player, Mel is so young, she brings the band’s average age way down, for which they’re grateful!
Ron Vanderzwan is a household name around the Barossa as the electric drummer for many bands for over half his life. Be watching out for the fast fingers on the hotplate!
Just as in The Castle, it’s all about the ‘vibe’ and together The Sourdoughs pour plenty into Sue’s songs.

Some of his paintings are inspired by music that he enjoys.
Ricca Terra Wines
Our partner for this event is Ricca Terra Farms. Ricca Terra Vintners is 16 years in the making. Ashley & Holly Ratcliff have grown and sold their grapes to some of the greatest winemakers in Australia. Today, Ricca Terra Vintners has established the mantra to blend grape varieties in the vineyard rather than in the winery….and make wines of interest with stories to tell!
Gates open 5:30pm, music at 7:00pm. Great wines from Ricca Terra and some winter warming food will be available for purchase. No BYO food or drink please…..you’ll thank us!
