EVENT CANCELLED – KRISTY COX and her US Bluegrass Band plus special guests The Weeping Willows

July 18, 2020 @ 5:30 pm - 11:00 pm

Kristy Cox and her US Bluegrass Band

We were SO excited when Kristy contacted us from her home in Nashville and asked if she could bring her awesome bluegrass band with her to play in The Barn at Wombat Flat this July! She just blew our sold out audience away when she played here in our first year, 2018.

Adored for her youthful energy infused bluegrass, Kristy Cox has been awarded with radio success and accolades for her talent. Having signed with bluegrass label Mountain Fever Records, Kristy is set to release her brand new album ‘No Headlights’ in February 2020, following her #1 Billboard Charting album ‘Ricochet’.

Kristy was awarded the ‘Bluegrass Recording of the Year’ in the 2020 CMAA’s (Golden Guitar Awards) in Australia for her track ‘Yesterday’s Heartache,’ the first single from her forthcoming album, making this her 4th win in the category.

Credited for her performance and songwriting capabilities, Golden Guitar winner Kristy has been shortlisted in the International Bluegrass Music Awards the past four years for New Artist of the Year and Female Vocalist of the Year and was a finalist in the 2019 IBMA Momentum Awards for Vocalist of the Year.

From a young age, Kristy has captured attention with her distinct singing style and positive outlook, seeing her go on to open shows for major acts and appearing on Television and major Festivals across Australia, Europe and the USA.

The Weeping Willows

The Weeping Willows The Weeping Willows, Laura Coates and Andrew Wrigglesworth, are a couple of old souls, steeped in Bluegrass tradition and draped in Gothic Americana imagery. They regale their audiences with stories of sunshine and romance, God and The Devil, murder and decay. That kind of description might make them sound like some carefully contrived concept-act but there’s something truly different about The Weeping Willows: they really mean it…

2015-2019 has seen The Weeping Willows nominated for 5 x CMAA ‘Golden Guitar’ awards, 4 x Country Music Channel (CMC) awards, APRA AMCOS Australian Independent Country Music Single of the Year, performing at AmericanaFest (USA), Folk Alliance International (USA), Maverick Festival (UK), Port Fairy Folk Festival, Out On The Weekend with Margo Price, Joshua Hedley and Courtney Marie Andrews and the Australian Americana Music Honours. In recent years they have supported Lukas Nelson & POTR (USA), Hayes Carll (USA), Iris DeMent (USA), Eilen Jewell (USA), Willie Watson (USA), Cory Branan (USA), Kevin Welch (USA), Tim Easton (USA), Hannah Aldridge (USA), Ben de la Cour (USA), Shane Nicholson and The Audreys and completed national and international tours in support of their sophomore album, Before Darkness Comes A-Callin’ (2016), which received four-star reviews in Rolling Stone, The Australian and The Music. A Weeping Willows performance, whether live on location or caught on tape will always delight.
