Brad Butcher and special guest Jodi Martin

October 15, 2022 @ 5:30 pm - 10:30 pm

Brad Butcher

One of The Barn at Wombat Flat’s favourite sons is making the trek down from Qld to knock another one out of the park!

Brad Butcher is a Mackay born, Central Queensland, independent singer-songwriter and musician. A two time Golden Guitar Award winner for New Talent (2018) & Alt Country Album of the year (2020) and the 2018 Q Music Award Winner for Best Country Song.

To date, he’s released 5 studio albums ~ Storyteller… the journey so far (2022), Travelling Salesman (2019), From the Bottom of a Well (2017), Jamestown (2015) and the debut self titled release (2012).

Inspired by the familiar names of James Taylor & Cat Stevens, and industry known and respected songwriters Lori McKenna & Rodney Crowell, Butcher has earned himself critical acclaim and recognition nationally as an independent artist and performer, crafting a career and unique style that sets him apart from the norm of Australian songwriters. Touring Australia extensively and the United States multiple times. Butcher has showcased at Nashville’s premier Americana Fest, Toronto’s NXNE Festival, performed at our own iconic Country Music Awards of Australia multiple times and myriad of national festivals and venues along the way.

Brad Butcher has been touted a songwriter’s songwriter with a reputation as a hard worker always ready to lend a hand to the next crop of emerging songwriters. At the core of it all is an uncomplicated Australian fella with a passion to create, connect and inspire.

Jodi Martin

Acclaimed singer songwriter Jodi Martin (ABC TV BACKROADS) has released 8 records worldwide and played Australia’s major festivals including the East Coast Blues and Roots Festival and Port Fairy, The National and Woodford Folk Festivals. Jodi has toured extensively throughout Australia and to Germany, France, the UK and Canada. A seasoned road warrior, in addition to headlining her own tours, Jodi has also toured with roots music luminaries including Arlo Guthrie (USA), Richard Thompson (UK), Eric Bibb (USA), Bruce Cockburn (CAN), Michelle Shocked (USA), Luka Bloom (IRE) and Glen Hansards’ The Frames (IRE). Based in Montreal, Canada for four years, Jodi also worked extensively with avant garde composer Louis Dufort. Jodi’s 2022 releases are a stunning collection of new songs, the legacy of two years writing solidly as a member of Sam Hawksley’s Song Club, out of Nashville Tennessee.
After Jodi began writing songs at the the age of three, songwriting was cemented as her core passion in life. Jodi’s professional music career was launched at the age of 16, when she wrote a song for Kasey Chambers and the Dead Ringer Band’s ARIA Award-Winning country album Homefires. With the Weekend Australian hailing Jodi ‘one of Australia’s most talented singer songwriters’, be prepared for Jodi’s insightful rootsy songs to leave you with tears in your eyes and goosebumps on your skin.
With a loyal underground following, Jodi Martin is one of Australia’s hidden treasures, highly respected and loved by her peers in the industry and her fans alike. Arlo Guthrie has been Jodi’s mentor since she first toured nationally with him at 19, and his influence has seen Jodi’s natural storytelling gift blossom into a fine art. Her stories are honest, unique, sometimes vulnerable and often hilarious. Jodi’s fierce integrity and authenticity has always insisted that she follow her heart. In recent years this has led her back to her home from bases in Montreal, Byron Bay and Sydney to South Australia’s coastal desert to be close to family. Being back in her spiritual home has grounded her and the coastal desert of her childhood continues to inspire Jodi’s music.

‘If you like Jack Johnson or James Taylor, you’ll love Jodi Martin’ ARLO GUTHRIE

‘Heartwarming songs and hilarious stories’ JOSH CUNNINGHAM (THE WAIFS)

Emerging Artists Scholarship Winners:

This year we offered an Emerging Artist Scholarship to six applicants. In addition to music business mentorship with artist Kelly Brouhaha, sound tips from engineer John Simpson and venue tips from owner Mike Roberts, scholarship winners get to perform a couple of songs at the start of a show. Plus you’ll be entertained by one of last year’s winners, Gemma Tiller, pre-show around the fires.
